Job Description for Mr. Ron Klain, the new Ebola Czar

Take this letter and modify it if you want or use it as is to send to our new Ebola Czar.

Dear Mr. Klain,

Here is a very brief description of what you must do to be successful in: 1) protecting the people of the United States, and; 2) stopping the epidemic in West Africa.  Perhaps you should take notes from the very successful leadership shown by General Russel L. HonorĂ© who took over the Katrina relief efforts in New Orleans following the total failure of local, state and federal persons and agencies—a situation very like we have today concerning the Ebola threat.

Protecting people in the U.S.—see previous posts for details

·      Immediately stop all commercial air traffic from West Africa until the epidemic is over.
·      Immediately stop all persons with passports from West African countries from entering U.S. bound airplanes and boats.
·      Immediately start a 21-day visa process for anyone wanting to travel to the U.S.
·      Immediately begin planning for Ebola treatment centers in the U.S.; these should include:
o   Sufficient number of beds to treat up to 1,000 people infected with Ebola
o   Sufficient isolation facilities to accommodate 10,000 people for 21 days
o   At least 10 Ebola treatment and isolation centers that should be located around our population centers
o   The U.S. National Guard must maintain security at these Ebola centers.
·      Immediately begin overseeing the planning for “at the door” triage and transportation to Ebola treatment centers for all hospitals that may receive  people with suspected Ebola infection.

A following letter will outline what you must do to end the Ebola epidemic in West Africa.

Take these steps Mr. Klain so people in the U.S.  can begin to feel like our government is taking the Ebola threat seriously.  Please show by your bold actions that you are not simply another political operative looking to placate our citizens—in short please be effective.

Sincerely,

Steven Keller, Ph.D.
